About Lioba
Lioba Benold is an interdisciplinary designer and artistic researcher exploring contemporary issues related to invisible social, political, and cultural systems. Through critical research and creative production, she aims to create space for alternative ideas and new forms of collectivity. Her work seeks to nurture creativity, freedom of expression, and safety.
She has developed a co-curatorial methodology rooted in feminist ethnographic research practices, focusing on the placemaking and community-building potential of nightlife. Applying this approach, she designs and curates multisensory nightlife experiences that invite the public to reimagine safe nightlife spaces, free from heavy surveillance and consumerism.
Lioba is currently living and working in the Netherlands. She graduated with an MA in Social Design at Design Academy Eindhoven in 2024. Her projects often involve collaboration with experts from various fields, engaging in long-term processes and experimenting with interdisciplinary methods. The outcomes of her work are presented in formats such as lectures, workshops, and art installations. She has curated events for the Van Abbe museum and Stichting Cultuur Eindhoven.
